Story
As many of you know, I am a long distance triathlete and my friends tell me that they will never sponsor me because nothing is ever enough of a challenge for me. Well, I’ve had a think about that and I have decided to do something that is so outlandish and so difficult that I really want everyone’s support. On Tuesday 29th April at 6:30am I will set up my turbo trainer here at the Aspire National Training Centre and attempt to cycle for 12 hours in my own personal spin class. It will be hard, it will hurt and my legs will turn the pedals on my bike 64,800 times. It will also be extremely boring, so I need you to make it worthwhile. All the money I raise will go to Aspire, the national charity providing practical help for people with a spinal cord injury, of which I am the Chief Executive. The work we do is crucial to help those paralysed by spinal cord injury move to a more independent life. So please dig deep and make my suffering worthwhile.
If
anyone is prepared to pledge me £1,000 I will add an extra hour to my spin
session!
If you'd like to come along to help ease my boredom, I'd welcome any support on
the day. For additional donations I will even treat you to one of my amazing
magic tricks. Or if you'd like to challenge yourself, come down and spin
alongside me for an hour to keep me company - just donate £10 for the
privilege, and receive a free massage at the end of your spin.
Alternatively, if you fancy attempting an outdoor cycling challenge then please sign up to take part in the Ride London 100 for Aspire on 10th August. Email andrew.ogierman@aspire.org.uk for details.
