Brian's London Marathon 2022 in Memory of Matt

London Marathon 2021 · 3 October 2021 ·
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I'm running the London 2022 Marathon to support Brain Tumour Research as it is a cause very close to my family.
I completed a virtual London Marathon in 2020 around Rutland water and missed 2021 due to injury, but am delighted to now have the opportunity to run in London on 2nd October to raise money for Brain Tumour Research in memory of Matt.
In 2018, my wife's brother Matt, sadly died 2 years after having being diagnosed with a Brain Tumour.
Matt was a great inspiration to many with his passion for life - his love of music, film, poetry, art, running, football and spending quality time with family and friends.
Matt encouraged many of his family and friends to start running and inspired me to do my first half marathon in Leicester in 2013, where Matt finished 5th in 76 mins. Matt was a member of Southport and Waterloo running club and ran the London Marathon several times, most recently in 2014 in 2 hours 44 mins.
Matt also loved Parkruns and completed over 100 with a PB of 16:34. He continued to run Parkruns while he was ill and during that time still managed to come in first at Melton, Rutland and Southport.
Matt is missed every day by his family and friends, so I am so pleased to have the opportunity to run the London Marathon in memory of Matt and to raise money for Brain Tumour Research to support them to find a cure to this awful disease.
