Every two hours someone in the UK is paralysed by a spinal cord injury. It can happen to anyone at any time and no one is prepared for how it will change their life. Aspire is a national charity that provides practical help, supporting spinal cord injured people from injury to independence.

Story

I am fundraising for Aspire because nine years ago my nephew was paralysed from the neck down when the motor bike he was on collided with a truck. He was one of the lucky ones, as he was able to sue the truck driver for damages. He is married with two young children and requires 24 hour care. It has taken him a while to come to terms with his disability, but he now says that he is a much better person.

I am doing this challenge for people with spinal injuries who depend on charity to help and support them through their day.

Many thanks for all the people who donated to my Aspire swim last year (I raised £600), however, I have a confession to make. It was too easy!! So this year, I propose to swim the equivalent of the channel not once, not twice, but three times. That will be a total of 66 miles over twelve weeks, which will be a much bigger bigger challange. I'm not sure that I will be able to complete it, but with your donations it will encourage me to keep swimming.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

So please dig deep and help me reach my target, donate now.
