Amy was 32 when she died in Intensive Care at Darent Valley Hospital. Despite incredible care, there was nothing the nurses and doctors could do to save her - it was too late.  Her alcohol addiction had taken its toll over the last 3 years.  Coupled with depression and many personal problems I believe she had just given up.  

Talking to nurses, I was told that all they could do was "patch up" alcoholics and drug users and send them on their way.  More should be done to recognise that addictions are an illness and not a lifestyle choice.  The Amy Winehouse Foundation was set up for this purpose and I hope you will consider donating to the charity instead of flowers.
