Story
Tara got us all together striving to support Macmillan to help all those in need of help through their journey with cancer.
We all have our own reasons for being crazy enough to decide to walk 26 miles across the Peaks. But it's an opportunity for like-minded friends and family to try and give something back.
Over the years, we have all either lost those that were dear to us or have watched our loved ones deal with this toxic disease. Macmillan have played their part in different ways to support our loved ones and/ or their families friends in dealing with this. This is why we thought we'd give a little back.
For Tara, (The instigator/ the leader), Sasha and Georgia this dreadful disease is very close to them at the moment. Taras partner, Sasha and Georgias dad Jason, after fighting Prostate cancer some years ago has again began treatment following tests highlighting its return and is mid way through this. Tara, 4 years ago also lost her Nanny to this dreadful disease.
Kate has her own reasons too, and all very recent. Most recently her Father-in-Law Geoff passed away after a diagnosis only six weeks ago of Acute Leukaemia, Last Year, One of her oldest friends Sarah died last year at the tender age of 45 and Sarah's mum who was by her side throughout passed away exactly 1 year after short, yet aggressive tumour. Kate has lost her Nanny and her Aunty Pat, two other important people in her life. Thankfully her friend Jane, whom she did this walk for 5 years ago, while she was having treatment remains clear and well.
Roz, who lost her dad to prostate cancer when he was only 58 would also like the opportunity to give back. The Macmillan charity gave a lot of support to her dad in many ways when he received his diagnosis, from how to find financial support when he couldn’t work to emotional support when his diagnosis was terminal and is throwing on her walking boots in this memory.
Macmillan and other Organisations and charities like Macmillan help our loved ones and us through such traumatic periods of our lives and this is just an opportunity to give something back.
We would ask that however big or small, if you could dig deep it would be very well recieved. Xxx
