Story
As part of Bishop Fleming's centenary year celebrations, we (as a firm) are committed to raising a total target of £100,000 for charity. To help achieve this goal I have volunteered to take part in The Three Peaks Challenge which involves climbing Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon, all within 24 hours. This involves 23 miles of walking, 10,000ft of vertical ascent and 460 miles of driving.
The £100,000 target will be split between a number of charities and I have selected Rowcroft Hospice as my charity of choice. I chose this charity through seeing the importance of Hospices in providing end of life care to people that I know and their families and friends.
Their services are vital to the local community. Last year it cost £7.8 million to run their services and meet the needs of people living with life-limiting illnesses, and their families. More than 70% of their funding comes from the incredible generosity of our community, without whom they simply would not be able to operate.
As an extra incentive to donate to this good cause I will also be attempting the following challenges over the next three months:
- 15 May : To row 100,000m on a Concept 2 rowing machine in one go
- 6 June: To complete 5,000 pushups within 12 hours
- 22/23 June: The Three Peaks challenge as outlined above
Thank you for taking the time to visit my page, all donations are gratefully received and are for such a good cause.
