Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

My nephew Jonah Saul Stevens was born prematurely at 28 weeks earlier this year.

This was of course a worrying time for my sister, Danielle (Jonah's mum) and her partner Mark.

My sister had an ok pregnancy and there was nothing to suggest Jonah would be born prematurely. However, she was admitted to hospital as she was feeling a little unwell and kept in for routine observations.

So it was a complete shock that Jonah was born just a couple of days later.

Jonah weighed 2lb 12oz when he was born and rapidly dropped to 2lb 2oz.

It was a scary time because at the time we did not know if he would survive and was advised to take each day as it came.

Jonah was in the neo natal unit for 8 weeks and received exceptional care from the consultants, nurses and all other staff there.Jonah is now doing well and is getting better every day. He already has a cheeky smile like his older brother:)

The staff also helped my sister and Mark emotionally and helped Jonah's younger brother Reuben understand what was going on.

They are working on developing facilities for siblings in the unit so parents can spend more time with the babies.

The equipment and facilities in the unit are world class but are very expensive. We are trying to raise £2000 to help the unit in the vital work they carry out on a daily basis.

Please donate if you can.

Thanks,

Richard, Mark, Danielle & Reuben
