Story
The Boston Salvation Army is appealing for your help in creating a £25,000/ £30,000 fund to support the expected increased demand for its services post Covid-19.
Our aim is to provide a measured response to the emerging needs of the most vulnerable and the many previously resilient members of our society who will find themselves unexpectedly among those in need as a consequence of the Coronavirus pandemic.
Our post Covid-19 strategy is to provide at our Bridge drop-in centre a daytime and evening ‘Listening –Ear’ programme for at least twelve months. It will provide among other things, home support, signposting advice for those seeking to access government and local services, help and guidance for those seeking work, counsel and support to those who have been bereaved, and a place of friendship for anyone who needs it. Where possible targeted support for a range of emotional and social needs will be available.
The project will work in co-operation with other agencies and run alongside our own Honeypot parent & toddler group, lunch-club, Music Man project and other church and community activities as these restart. The Bridge Drop-in programme will include the employment of a community worker to co-ordinate the programme and the recruitment and training of volunteers.
