Story
Bolton Lads & Girls Club entered a team into the 2013 Talisker Whisky Atlantic Rowing Challenge, a 3,000 mile rowing race across the Atlantic Ocean starting at the Canary Islands, it took 59 days, 18 hours, 40 minutes before they arrived in Antigua.
We did this to raise £250,000 which is being used to ensure the Junior Mentoring Project can continue to offer this vital support to some of the most vulnerable children in Bolton. There is currently a waiting list of nearly 200 kids that the mentoring programme could quite literally make a life changing effect on their young lives and therefore we wanted to take on an extreme challenge that would raise both awareness and the funds needed to allow this not only to continue but do away with the long waiting list. The rowers are Mark Brocklehurst, Nick Griffiths, Matt Nuttall and Finn Christo.
