Story
North Paddington Foodbank is focused on solving food poverty challenges faced by residents living in the Borough of Westminster. Our aim is to end poverty in Westminster by working with our local community, providing people in need with food, and a pathway out of poverty towards a better life. Across Westminster, we are sadly finding that an increasing number of people are experiencing situations where they have little to no money to purchase food and essentials. Benefits issues, unexpected costs, redundancy and long-term health problems, among other issues have created difficult situations that mean more people and families need access to support from charities like North Paddington Foodbank. On top of these factors, more than 60% of our customers are women, 45% of whom have more than one child. 35% are single mothers and shoulder the responsibility and cost of raising children alone. Many will only have access to low-paying jobs or part-time work*, and all will be feeling the effects of the rise in cost-of-living. We are committed to providing targeted support to women and families experiencing temporary or long-term food crisis, through our emergency supermarket vouchers; access to nappies, wipes, formula, and sanitary products through our Baby Bank; and the offer of person-centred casework to identity and address the issues that may be driving their food poverty. North Paddington Foodbank continues to be the main emergency food aid provider for the London Borough of Westminster, and we need your help to continue supporting people to find a pathway out of food poverty towards a better life.
I live locally and I like to be involved in my community so I’m committed to raising £800 for North Paddington Foodbank.
