Bob spoke often about his admiration for David Nott and the fantastic work he and his team are doing to support others to carry out complex surgeries in extremely hostile environments such as Ukraine, Syria, Palestine and many more.

Bob read the book 'War Doctor' a few years ago and ever since has been donating money to support the work. I think the book touched Bob in many ways; he was fascinated by the comparison between surgery and engineering, by the extreme situations that people endure to help others, and how sharing knowledge and skills with others can save lives and alleviate suffering.
