Story
I have just finished radiotherapy treatment for prostate cancer. This is not a sob story. It is not about bravery. This has not been about some epic battle against the disease.
It is about great steps forward in medical technology to target the disease plus the dedication of those who work for the NHS. The ever changing technology that means the next generations will get their treatment earlier and will hopefully overcome the disease before it affects their lives. It is about targeting the disease before it can do any long term damage.
It is also about saying thank you to all those from the West Suffolk Hospital and Addenbrookes, Cambridge who have helped over the past 5 years with my treatment and saying thank you for the support from my wife & immediate family.
There is an old saying – “Society grows great when old men plant
trees whose shade they know they shall never sit in.” From that point of view as one of those old men I am asking for donations to Prostate Cancer UK so that future generations can benefit from the new technologies that are making targeting and treating the disease even easier.
On August 4th Mildenhall C.C. are helping me organise a Prostate Cancer Awareness day to raise money for the charity at the club.
If you cannot join us on the day, please make a donation.
