Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
My friend Zoe is doing this running event, running 24, 20, 26, 13 and 17 miles on consecutive days. I thought I'd go along for moral support and the scenery, though obviously I'm not so insane as to do the running! But I will be walking, 10, 5, 10, 13 and 10 miles, which at altitude (5,500-11,815 ft) sounds plenty to me.
Since I'm not one who regularly asks for donations for things, I thought this unusual event is an opportunity to raise money for a worthwhile cause. I've chosen Depression Alliance because mental health is something which I've been thinking about for a few years now. Depression is something that affects so many people at some point in their lives (1 in 5). We're getting better about talking about mental ill health in our society but people often feel embarrassed or ashamed and as if they can't tell anyone how they're feeling, which only makes things worse.
Depression Alliance is the leading charity in the UK for anyone affected by depression.
They also campaign to end the stigma of depression and to raise awareness
of what it means to live with it.
