We are continuing to raise funds for WISHH (Working Independently to Support Hull Hospitals) specifically to provide a bladder scanner at Castle Hill Hospital
Out intention is to raise funds, to add to the amazing efforts of Steve Ashton (£3500 raised so far with a £8500 goal), to provide a new bladder scanner to assist the amazing staff at Castle Hill. The addition of an extra bladder scanner will reduce waiting times for anyone relying on this equipment while undergoing radiotherapy, in particular for prostate cancer.
Steve, recognised from his own experience, the impact on patients and the pressure put on the wonderful staff, in having to wait for the bladder scanner to be available. This prompted him to promise the staff who cared for him "you need another bladder scanner, I'll get you one!"
Steve, being true to his word embarked on an impressive fundraising effort during his illness. Sadly Steve's health deteriorated over the Christmas period of 2022 meaning that his mission was incomplete. Such was his determination to provide an extra bladder scanner, Steve achieved to raise a considerable amount in a very short period of time. Prior to his death, he expressed how much he wished for his hard work to be finished. Sheila, Jonathan, Sarah and loved ones promised to continue his fundraising.
Given that Steve was a friendly face, supporter of local businesses, walker, golfer, singer, dancer, family man, friend and one of the most loyal York City supporters you could wish to meet as well as a dedicated contributor to many community groups, there has been an overwhelming amount of people who have offered to support Steve's family in fulfilling his wishes.
We hope this just giving page will give Steve's friends and family a place to contribute to fundraising events in Steve's name, with all donations going directly to Steve's scanner, via WISHH.
