Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit Billy Glovers JustGiving page.
On Thursday 18th May 2017, at aged 85 years Billy Glover passed away. Back in 1981 Billy was a part of the opening of the East of England Arena, and has been an integral part of the Ice Rinks running ever since. He was not only the handyman everyone relied on, he was also a part of the off-ice staff for the Pirates and Phantoms for many many years.
Many people old and new, knew of Billy as he was always a face you would regularly see around Peterborough Ice Rink come rain or shine. Many of you would not have gotten out of the ice rink, without a tale being told of the years gone by, and the stories of his passion for cycling.
Billy has never fully retired and right up to only a few months ago he was down the rink teaching those young ones the wisdom of his knowledge.
After all the tireless work Billy has done for Hockey and the arena we really have lost a Peterborough Hockey legend.
On Wednesday 7th June, we will all be paying our respects to Billy at his funeral. This will be held at Peterborough Crematorium at 11am, then the wake to celebrate his life will be held at Legends Bar within the Ice Rink.
The family have asked for Family and close friend flowers only, but if you wish to show your respects via a gift, for donations to be made to Help The Heroes. So as to make this easier for people to donate, we have set this page up to help collate the donations.
We will keep this page live till one week after the funeral date, for any late donations.
Thank you in advance from Billy's wife Grace and his family.
