Jane Billing (as Billie Box) and Gillian Boyle are looking forward to cycling from London to Paris in aid of the St. Elizabeth hospice, Ipswich on 15th September 2015. It was over 3 years ago their father in law passed away at the hospice, and they felt that the hospice gave such great care. This should be encouraged so that the existing and future patients can benefit from their facilities.
Did you know the Hospice costs £9.1m a year, and almost 75% of this comes from the local community.This list is just a few of the totals that the hospice has to pay, to keep the services free for the community.
(IPU = In patient unit)
- £490 – could help to provide 24 hours care for a patient on IPU to receive specialist palliative care for respite, pain relief and other symptoms.
- £770 – will pay for an IPU or Day care Nurse for a week to provide care and support where it is needed most
- £2,000 – Will provide food for all our patients, their families and carers for a week
- £2,600- Will provide a new bed in our In Patient Unit
- £5,200 – could provide the costs of an average stay for a patient on the IPU
- £10,000 – could run the hospice (Including Fundraising) For 10 hours or pay for a bed on IPU for nearly 3 weeks
