Story
Another personal challenge is just around the corner!!
I recently completed the shorter course of the Cheshire 3 Peaks to test out the terrain similar to that I may experience climbing Snowdon next month!
I’m regularly walking and swimming to improve my stamina & maintain my present level of mobility
2 & 1/2 years ago I was discharged home from hospital in a wheelchair after contracting viral meningitis and complications from numerous brain surgeries and investigations into the acquired hydrocephalus (water on the brain)
I was advised that it was very unlikely that I would ever walk again due to brain injury arising from the complications of surgery
I was forced to take retirement from my NHS registered nursing role of 38 years; most recently as a Ward Sister in a rehabilitation ward at Newton Community Hospiral, Merseyside
With the fantastic support of my husband, family, friends, Warrington Neurological Community Rehabilitation team & BASIC in Salford I was fit enough to climb the Sydney Harbour Bridge in April 2017 a year after discharge !!
I raised funds following that achievement for BASIC via JustGiving
I wish to raise further funds for BASIC, an amazing virtual reality rehabilitation charity in Salford, to help others who may face a similar predicament to me
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
