Story
As most of you know I’ve been fighting Breast Cancer for the last year.
I was diagnosed late September, 2020.
My cancer is aggressive and fast growing, the monsters name is Triple Negative. Only about 15% of cases are TNBC.
If it’s not caught in time it is fatal.
The reoccurrence rate is extremely high.
Unfortunately, some people do not respond to the set treatments available here in Australia, so raising funds for more research is essential.
A quick summary… Howard (yes the super mutt) found my lumps. Then the nightmare began... GP first, who acted ultra fast, thank you Holly (at Springs Medical Centre , Daylesford) . Within a couple weeks, I was welcomed into the system at the Ballarat Cancer Centre (BRICC).
My treatment to date has included:
- numerous scans (PET, MRI, Mammograms)
- 6 months of chemotherapy
- two surgeries (lumpectomy and 26 lymph nodes removed) life long risk of developing lymphedema . .
- 5 weeks of radiation therapy (this is a daily treatment)
And now… oral chemotherapy for another 6 months.
I’ve spent months battling both physically and emotionally. This cancer has taken my hair, half my right breast, and at some points - it felt like it may have taken my soul.
The past 12 months have had some of the hardest, most gut wrenching and disheartening moments, but I can finally see the light on the other side.
Good times ahead for sure!
I’m coming back, buckle up bitches!
I am so proud of myself, my body and my resilience.
I feel grateful for our universal healthcare system. The care I received was world class.
Thank you for everyone’s support and love - you know who you are!
