Update:
June the 5th marks 12 years since we lost our son Isaac. Our first son who we love and miss dearly. For the last couple of years we have used his anniversary as a time to raise funds for our dear friends in The Democratic republic of Congo (DRC)
The money has helped to build a maternity suite in the town of Kasindi, for the many pregnant mothers (many of who are refugees fleeing war) to deliver their babies in a safe, sterile environment.
This year we are wanting to once again join imagine if trust in raising funds for the refugees fleeing their homes to Kasindi.
In the last 4 days 37,000 displaced people have fled their homes, and there have been multiple machete attacks on civilians. This is a huge humanitarian crisis that we hear so little about.
The money we raise will help buy blankets and basic food rations for the refugees now living in Kasindi.
2 years ago: Ten years ago we lost our baby Isaac, he was still born at 36 weeks. Isaac had a genetic syndrome called Edwards. While pregnant and after the birth we were privileged to receive wonderful free health care from our local NHS hospital.
We know that for many people living in developing countries such as The Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) this wouldn't have been the case. For this milestone anniversary of Isaac's we would like fund raise for a place and charity very close to our hearts.
Back in 2018 Chris visited the DRC with a team from ImagineIf Trust, a charity attached to our church that works alongside partner organisations in the DRC, to provide practical and financial support in a number of areas to help bring about change to people lives.
Whilst there Chris had the amazing privilege of being part of the opening ceremony of a health centre that has been built in the heart of a community and seeks to provide free/affordable health care.
The New Hope health centre was established by Imagine If and is currently in use by the community but there is still work that needs to be done. The delivery suite in the maternity unit needs to be tiled and completed to ensure it is hygienic and fully functional. This will cost around £500. The DRC is one of the poorest in the world and often people can't afford the labour delivery fees (£5).
So in memory of our beloved Isaac we would love to raise £600 to bless this project. £500 will complete the delivery suite and £100 will ensure that 20 mothers can give birth for free.
