Story
For those who may not know on January 28th this year my Grandma was hit by a car and as a result suffered cardiac arrest, a fractured skull and hence a severe brain injury which she would never recover consciousness from. She sadly passed away in intensive care the following evening, January 29th, surrounded by family.
Without the help of Scotland's Charity Air Ambulance (SCAA) transporting extra expert medical help to the scene, she may never have made it to hospital for us to say our goodbyes. These medics provided aid and assistance to the ambulance team following resuscitation and intubation of my Grandmas airways, while also supporting her breathing during transportation to hospital, something we as a family are profoundly grateful for.
My Grandma was always heavily invested in my endeavours, regularly checking in on me, asking how my hockey matches had gone, whether I’d been on any big runs, bike rides, dog walks and for any pictures of what I’d been up to with friends. Sharing my experiences with her was an absolute pleasure and something I now truly miss.
So, in memory of my Grandma and to hopefully raise some funds and awareness for the fantastic work the SCAA do, I plan to undertake a monthly event / personal challenge, which are listed below, over the next 4 months of summer.
Any donation for the SCAA would be most gratefully received, if you are willing and able.
