Story
In the fall of 2011, my youngest brother, Darryl was diagnosed with Acute Promyelocytic Leukaemia. I nervously sat in a hospital waiting room with his wife and son for the doctor to explain the disease, the treatment and most importantly the prognosis. After undergoing several rounds of treatment and some lengthy hospital stays, I am so very happy to report that my brother is doing very well and in great health. The photo is of us participating in the Heart Challenge Obstacle Course last year (team name Sibling Rivalry, of course).
Living in the Boston, Massachusetts area, he is very lucky to have access to the resources of some of the best cancer research centers. Having easy to understand information and support on how to live with and conquer this disease is so important to his success. Running the London Marathon is on my bucket list, but I'm doing so in honor of Darryl's strength and triumph. Training during the snowiest winter in Boston's history is nothing compared to what he weathered during this time, which is why I chose to fundraise for Leukaemia Care, so others can benefit from advice and support during a difficult time.
