Story

Thank you for visiting my Justgiving page. Any donations would be truly appreciated, no matter how big or small! 💕

On March 19th 2023, I will be running the Barcelona Marathon and raising money for ALK Positive UK.

ALK-positive lung cancer is a relatively rare form of lung cancer caused by the abnormal rearrangement of the ALK gene, resulting in cancerous cells dividing and multiplying more quickly than usual. The vast majority of patients are non-smokers, half are under 50 years of age when diagnosed (some are much younger), and the majority are female. Most patients are diagnosed at Stage 4.

ALK Positive UK’s purpose is to extend the overall survival and quality of life of ALK-positive lung cancer patients across the UK through support, empowerment and advocacy on their behalf. It’s incredibly important that patients know that they are not alone, and have access to help, support and information throughout every stage of their battle.

The charity also aims to raise awareness of ALK-positive lung cancer, particularly among medical professionals, in order to promote early diagnosis and best practice.

This is a cause very close to my heart, so any donations would be very much appreciated and will motivate me to keep pushing through all those miles.

Thanks so much 🤍
Beth
