Story
Hi, my name is Beth and I am 16 years old. Sam Amess, my boyfriend, was diagnosed with stage 4 liver cancer the day before his 12th birthday in 2015. He underwent intensive rounds of chemotherapy until later receiving a life saving liver transplant in July 2015. Against all odds, Sam survived and is now happy and healthy, approaching his 18th birthday.
Throughout his treatment, Candlelighters were there for Sam, and still are to this day, providing support for him and his family all of the way, and they played a significant part in his journey. On March 26th Sam will turn 18 and in light of this, I would like to raise some money on his behalf in order to act as a thank you for all of their work. Over the course of 4 weeks, I will aim to travel 122 miles starting from 21st February and finishing the 21st March. This represents the journey from Hull to Leeds General Infirmary (where Sam received his treatment) and back home.
Candlelighters are a truly great cause and not only provide support to children affected by cancer, but also provide support for siblings by providing days out to ensure they get some time to take their mind off what is happening. Alongside this, they also offer both financial and emotional support for all of the family, which is often crucial in such tough times.
Any donations would be greatly appreciated for such a wonderful cause. Thank you in advance for your support. :)
