Story
Hi everyone,
On the 8th of July I am joining a team of 40 riders to cycle Stage 8 of the 2016 Tour de France . I will be riding 148km in one day, climbing four punishing mountains, including the iconic Col Du Tourmalet, starting in Lourdes and finishing in Bagneres-de-Luchon.
I am cycling in aid of The Brain Tumour Charity who do an incredible job aiding cancer treatment and research. As some of you may know, this is a charity particularly close to my heart. Five years ago, my Dad was diagnosed with a Brain tumour. The extensive treatment and surgery he has undergone would not have been possible without the research and funding that the Brain Tumour charity provide.
This may come as a slight surprise, I am by no means a cyclist, and prior to getting involved with this event, I did not even own a bike, or any extremely unflattering lycra. Now I'm the proud owner of both- 'all the gear no idea'! The ride will be an intense physical and mental challenge; one I'm feeling very excited, yet also very scared about beginning. I do however know that enduring one day of pain, sweat and tears will be worth it to raise money for such an incredible charity!
If you can, please do take five minutes to donate, every penny will be greatly appreciated :)
Thank you so much,
Beth
