Update - thank you for all of your kind sponsors. The hair cut has been done ! and 12” has been sent off to The Little Princess Trust.
Hello! I’ve always been known for having long thick hair. But that is all about to change. Eeeeeeak... Here goes, once I let everyone know what I am doing and sponsors start coming in then there is no turning back, SO... I am cutting my hair - Around 12” of it (30cm!) and donating it to The Little Princess Trust.
The Little Princess Trust provides free, real-hair wigs for young cancer sufferers or for children and young people experiencing the devastating effects of hair loss.
I have had the privilege of having my long hair nearly my whole life and could not imagine what it would be like to loose it all. The girls and young women who receive the devastating news of cancer, first have to come to terms with this and then often have to deal with loosing their hair, as a consequence of their treatment. If I can help, by donating my own hair to provide a wig to someone in this situation, then it will be worth loosing the 12”.
I planned on having my hair cut shorter (before COVID-19) maybe 6” or so taken off, but then, after not being able to get a haircut booked in I looked into Letting it grow some more and then donating it. The Little Princess Trust ask for a minimum of 7” and actually receive a substantial amount of 7-11” donations, which is amazing, but there is a much higher demand for 12”+ donations. So that’s why I am having the longer amount cut.
However, from receiving my hair donation, through to fitting and styling a bespoke wig, it will cost the charity over £550. This covers providing a real-hair wig free-of-charge to the wig recipient. So here’s the deal (PLEASE) I’ll donate the hair and, if you can sponsor me to do so, then together we can fund the charity, to make a wig beginning to end, without me personally costing them a penny.
Any extra we raise together will go towards supporting the development of less aggressive and less toxic cancer treatments.
Any amount You kindly donate (literally) will make a difference to the charity and I will be extremely grateful. Thank you !
UPDATE - Haircut has been booked for 2nd August!!
