The Community Heartbeat Trust helps communities undertake defibrillator projects taking into account the needs for the right equipment, the right support, the right adherence to liabilities and governance, community awareness and training programmes, and help with the fund raising and long term support for these projects. As the leading community defibrillator charity in the UK, we have become recognised by ambulance services, councils, community groups and sports governing bodies as the 'gold standard', having set many of the standards now being adopted by other organisations. We live, breath and are hugely passionate about community defibrillation in all its forms, and seek always to offer a holistic and objective advice to communities. We believe a defibrillator is for LIFE and not just for Christmas, and these medical devices should be available to save lives. But they are just that, a medical device, and must be treated with respect. A good project is not about just a defibrillator in the community, but one that forms part of a resilient process, addressing needs, and fully backed by Governance. www.communityheartbeat.org.uk

Story

Thank you for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page in memory of our lovely Mum, Beryl O'Hagan.

Our Mum unexpectedly passed away suddenly yet peacefully on 19th January 2020 from a heart attack whilst on her usual Sunday countryside walk with friends. There was a public-access defibrillator nearby that was used to try to save her,  and we are so comforted and forever grateful to know that it was used on her, even though it sadly could not bring our Mum back.

We would like to raise £2000 to install an unlocked defibrillator in a public place in Mum's home-town of Dartford in her memory.  This £2000 will cover installation, maintenance, training in using the defibrillator for those who would like it, and continual upkeep of this life-saving device.

As a nurse herself for decades for the young and old, our Mum was very passionate about life-saving practices and progress in medicine, so we feel that she would be very proud and approving of us raising funds in her memory for such a worthwhile community life-saving device.

Please note that any donations deposited in the donation box at the church at our Mum's funeral mass on 13th February, and any donations made via the official funeral invitation that some of us have shared, will all be added in the 'Raised offline' window of this page so that we can provide an accurate total of funds raised.

Thank you for your love and support,

Claire, Helen, Anne & Paul xxxx
