Berkeley Group Three Peaks Challenge · 23 September 2017

Action for Carers supports Surrey’s unpaid carers. We help people aged 5-95 who are looking after a relative or friend, with advice, information on rights and benefits, practical and emotional support, free events, wellbeing sessions, support groups, a Helpline, drop-in Hubs and much more.

Story

This September, a team of 13 (brave? foolhardy?) colleagues from Berkeley Group are taking on the triple challenge of climbing Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon in 24 hours.

We are trying to raise £10,000 for Action for Carers Surrey, our local partner charity, who do fantastic work to support young carers across the county.

Young carers - some of them as young as 5 or 6 - spend a significant amount of time each week caring for a family member who is physically or mentally ill. They might help with around the house with cooking and cleaning, or provide personal care with things like washing, dressing and lifting.

All of this can have a huge impact on young carers' ability to fit in important things like school work, playing sport and making friends.

Surrey Young Carers, which is part of Action for Carers Surrey, provides a vital support network for these young people. They can give information and guidance, support with school or college, and provide trips and days out with the opportunity to make new friends, relax and have fun.

Ben Nevis, Scafell and Snowdon is a huge challenge, but it's nothing compared to the mountains some of these young carers have to climb. Please make a donation and support Surrey Young Carers' work!
