Story
AHOY have been supporting their community since 2003, helping thousands of disadvantaged youth and disabled adults achieve recognised qualifications whilst teaching valuable transferable skills through a medium of sailing, rowing and waterbased activities. I'm joining AHOY's Rowvember community and I'm making my miles count. Your donations will provide vital income for AHOY to continue to provide innovative waterbased activities to help change the lives of disadvantaged youth and disabled adults. Thank you
Due to the Covid-19 restrictions, their sponsored Thames rowing event has been postponed, along with a number of other AHOY fundraising events, leaving them without their usual funding streams. While we hope that can still take place next year, AHOY have set up a Rowvember challenge, in which we can choose to do something else to raise money for this worthy cause this year.
As such, because we’re locked down and I won’t have consistent access to a rowing machine during this time, I have decided to do 300 press-ups a day for the rest of this lockdown or until 1st December, whichever is later (thereby especially hopeful that lockdown ends at the end of November).
I hasten to add, that this is not 300 press-ups in a row, though I will generally want them over and done with ASAP, so it won’t be at a rate of 12 and a half per hour and it will hurt, because I hate them.
That makes 5400 press-ups until the end of the month, from tomorrow, and if we get over my £300 target I will round that up to 6000, regardless of when lockdown ends. Feel free to break that target ASAP, so I can spread the extra 600 over a couple of weeks, rather than the last two days… 😉
