Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I previously used this page when I ran 125 KM over the Peak District to raise money for Mind the mental health charity, but I have transitioned it to raise additional funds with a new endurance challenge at short notice!

The new challenge - The 12 hour Ultra X "dawn 'til dusk" challenge

The aim is to run as far as possible in the 12 hour period between 06:00-18:00 on Saturday 13 March 2021.

If that didn't sound tough enough, I thought I would add a twist to the challenge and run the event entirely around the ~1.75 mile loop of Battersea Park. My goal is to hit 100km in the time period, which will be at least 35.5 loops of the park!

This will be both a physical and mental resilience challenge. Fortunately, I will be joined virtually by my friends and team mates Jamie Evans and Guy Carpenter.

As a three we are the "Cirque de Sore Legs" team on the Ultra X Challenge.

Any support you can give, whether it is via donations to this page, words of encouragement, or COVID secure cheers, it would be hugely appreciated!

Why Mind?

Mind does great work to provide advice and support to empower anyone experiencing a mental health problem. They also campaign to improve services, raise awareness and promote understanding of mental health.

Every year, one in four people will experience a mental health problem. The COVID-19 pandemic, 'lockdowns', social restrictions and economic uncertainties have increased the pressures that we all face and those with existing mental health issues have been adversely affected and cut off from their usual support networks.

With mental health a major issue in its own right and the pandemic situation still a reality, the work of Mind has never been more important and your support would be more valuable than ever.

Any support you can give and any donation, no matter how small, would be hugely appreciated and thanks again for taking the time to read this!

A little more info on Mind, Coronavirus and Mental Health

We’re here to make sure that no one has to face a mental health problem alone, and we won’t give up until everyone experiencing a mental health problem gets both support and respect.

As we start to feel the impact of coronavirus on our mental health, the demand for Mind’s vital supports and services is growing.

  • We’ve been working hard to deliver reliable information resources that provide advice on looking after mental health during this period, and how we can protect our wellbeing while staying at home and self-isolating.
  • As the government acts quickly to manage the situation, we’ll be there to lobby in England and Wales to protect those of us with mental health problems and the most vulnerable in our society, making sure everyone's aware of their rights, including sick pay and access to the benefits system.
  • Through it all, we’ll continue to provide the right support at the right time for all those in need through services including our Infoline, peer support  networks, Elefriends,  as well as locally through the network of local Minds.
