Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

Sandy McDougall and I are cycling the Bealach Mor to raise money for the Ben McNicol Trust. Ben was my nephew and was only six when he died last year, succumbing to a brain  tumour which proved resistant to surgery, and also to radio and chemotherapy.

The Trust setup in his memory is initially raising money to buy a flat to accommodate families of children receiving treatment for cancer. You can learn more about the Trust's work, here.

Ben lived his short life with great enthusiasm and would have been keen to join this adventure.

The Bealach Mor is a 90 mile cycle incorporating lots of hills but particularly the Bealach Na Ba pass over to Applecross in Wester Ross.  It's the toughest road to cycle in the UK - rising from sea level to over 2,000 feet in a few miles. However, nothing that two middle-aged, over-optimistic accountants can't handle!
