Story

Hey everyone, Well ive decided to Run the Bupa Birmingham run for Leukemia and Lymphoma Research with some friends. Im personally running in rememberance of John Blain, however as I never had the priviledge of meeting John I am not the right person to talk about who he was. However from being with his family I truly believe he was a beautiful shining light for them.

Many people are affected by these blood cancers and it can be devistating to families. Coming up to the point of deciding to run I have been reading amazing stories of people who have been fighting these types of cancer. I find it hard to believe that with all the money people have in this day and age that we still have to fundraise to do anything about finding solutions.

So running this half marathon is the nothing compared to what these people have to battle through in their day to day lives. So please dig deep and help other children like John who deserve a full life without having to fight on a day to day basis.

23/1/12 As some of you may know I have run the London Marathon and the Silverston Half Marathon in 2009, However I ran these with my Dad so doing this by myself should be intresting and hopefully il have the motivation to get out there and train on my own. My training currently consists of playing football saturday and every other day at the gym! So I may need to Start running aorund the Block again a few times!

24/1/12 While going out and giving out leaflets in te pouring rain someone said they were running the bognor 10k which i thought sounds like a good idea for training. its about 6.2 miles so double it and im there! Starts at 11.00am May 20th! Also an old employeer Loretta down my local newsagents gave an amazing £30 when I asked her to put up a poster so a big thank you!

27/1/12 Been in touch with Spirit Fm and they very kindly are helping to promote Leukemia Research and my need of Sponsorship! They will be doing the shout out between 10am-2pm on the 28/1/12 so tune in!

2/2/12 So the nice lady sarah from the leukemia Charity sent me an email today saying I can have a marathon Place if I want it! So im trying to snap it up straight away! Hopefully everything will go smoothly and il be running it on the 15th of April! Bit closer then I was expecting..however if you know me you will know I never do anything easy! ...Better start some hardcore training though..However the update on Training is that im currently running 3k which is 15 minuets non stop at the gym, havnt pushed myself further yet, but no time to lose now!

3/2/12 So im offically into the brighton Marathon! So thought id go for a long run around Pagham to see my fitness is at the moment. I ran 5 miles in about 50 minuets non stop without pushing myself too hard so thats a good start! Another 10 minuets and thats the Bognor 10k done! However I would need to do that 4 times for the Marathon which I have first...My running seems to be backwards! marathon first then 10k then Half Marathon!

7/2/12 So did another long distance run of 6.6 miles non stop too. Got Chased by a small dog at the park and got bumped by a reversing car in a driveway! So im close to being killed while training, just 2 months to go for the Marathon! Also didn't relise that the marathon is right in the middle of a family holiday so im giving that up to run the marathon.

13/2/12 So I arranged a karaoke at my work which went down really well and all our clients had a great time singing their way through the night! We raised £100 which im really thankful to all involved. Thanks to Roise and Danielle for helping run the bar! And to Dave, Alex and Jane and the rest of the Center for much needed support! Best part was me and Rosie singing our hearts out to "One way or another!"

24/2/12 Unfortunatly ive been ill this past week with a bad cold which has stopped me from training and going to the gym. Im pretty tired all the time and feel exhausted. Hopefully this wont put me back too much training wise. Ran up the stairs today and I was knackard! Almost over it now though so hopefully il be training hard again soon!

30/3/12 So back to normal now, getting abit worried about the marathon now as its only 16 days away! But luckily ive got some friends to do some long runs with just before. Also some of the guys i work with are also coming to watch and cheer me on which will be amazing! Half way to my target already which is great. Deciding to do some more events such as a horse race night trying to think of more ways to fundraise too!

7/4/12 Well about a week to go now til the Brighton Marathon. Had a running buddy today in the form of Mel Carrington! Really helped make the run go faster having someone else to talk to and to keep motivated :) Did the run in under 45 minuets which is a really good pace as i usually do it in 50 minuets + i added an extra mile on so was good.

13/4/12 So 2 days to go...abit worried about running the Marathon now, also thought I was getting a cold yesterday but it seems to have stopped thank goodness! Got more Sponsorship from the lovely people at my church so a big thank you! So im on about the £300 mark now which is great at this stage! Just off to Brighton now to pick up my Marathon gear for Sunday which will be good so i can plan the route for the drive back down on Sunday. Bit worried about driving back but il take it steady so dont worry!

17/4/12 Brighton Marathon done in 4 houts 41 seconds which i am so happy about! Shaved a whole hour off my London time. But wow it did really hurt. Just seen the pictures from it and i look like im in so much pain. Thanks for everyone that sponsored me and gave their support! Especially Danni, Rosie and Helen as they drove me there, cheered me on and drove me back. Epicly big thank you to them. Ive raised about £400 which is great as ive only been raising for a few months now. Next Race is the Bognor 10k which i want to run in fancy dress, currently thinking a Ghilli suit which would be fun! Also trying to find a running partner to enter the warrior dash which is a 5k run in water/mud/ and obsticals etc! Thank you once again everyone who sponsored me and have been supporting me!!!

30/4/12 Hey everyone, just an update on whats going on. Well im nearing my target and still havd 5ish months to go which is great. The Bognor 10k is in 20 days. Mum,Dad and Melissa are all going to join in to do this mud run so hopefully that will help the fundraising. Rebecca has also been really good and has collected about £100 from people so a big thank you to her! Also all my family who have been really generous. Still waiting to get my fancy dress thing arranged which should be really great! So hopefully il have some more pictures to put up and keep sponsoring, its all going to a really good cause!

15/5/2012 Right i now have my ghillie suit im going to run the bognor 10k in. Its gonna be a hard run now due to it being much heavier and its going to be boiling inside it. So im actually hoping for rain! It consists of 3 things, a hood, a big coat thing and gaitors which are like glorified leg warmers! Going to be quite fun, im also thinking about taking a water pistol too! 5 Days to go!

21/5/2012 So I completed the Bognor 10k, Just in about 50 minuets qhich was great! Really loved running it in fancy dress. The support was great! I also got interviewed about 4 times and had my photo taken. So Hopefully some more sponsors will come my way. Thanks to all that have sponsored me so far!
