Story
Men don't like to talk about their "bits" so I am bucking the trend and want to raise awareness of one particular disease. My mum works closely with Prostate Cancer UK so I thought that this would be a great cause. My first event is the Manchester 10k on Sunday 28th May and then I will be cycling 145 miles over 2 days from Yorkshire to Amsterdam on 9th to 11th June and I hope to raise £1000.
Older men, men with a family history of prostate cancer and black men are more at risk. Prostate cancer mainly affects men over 50, and risk increases with age. The average age for men to be diagnosed with prostate cancer is between 65 and 69 years. If you are under 50, your risk of getting prostate cancer is very low. Men under 50 can get it, but it isn’t common.
