On the 17th of July I will be taking part in the UK Bolton Ironman competition to help support the invaluable work carried out by Glass Door in aid of the Homeless Community in London.
Having volunteered their last winter, I’ve experienced first hand the truly exceptional work they do. What touched me the most whilst volunteering was listening to the different stories and backgrounds of the people who walked in. From teachers, to builders, even business owners - homelessness can effect anyone and sadly a lot of people effected are too ashamed to ask for help.
The Ironman triathlon is well known as the toughest single day challenge you can undertake - a 2.4 mile swim, a 112 mile bike ride followed by a full 26 mile marathon. Anyone that knows me knows I love a challenge, but however painful and gruelling it may be, I have the luxury of knowing it’s only for one day. There is a finish line.
Unfortunately homelessness can often trap people in a cycle with no clear exit or end to their situation. That’s the reason I want to support Glass Door - as well as providing food and shelter, they help provide more stable futures for individuals, not only helping in the short term but helping to put an end to homelessness.
I believe that the strongest of us should come together to help the most vulnerable so please help me to help Glass Door give support and shelter to those who need it the most.
Any donation will be greatly appreciated, thank you all for your support and generosity.
Ben
