I'm running in the Manchester Marathon as a personal challenge but thought it worth raising funds for Invest in ME. I've seen first hand how this illness has effected one of my best friends and his sister. Anything I can do contribute in finding a cure so that they, and others don't have to worry about conversing enough energy to get through the day would be truly worth it.

Invest in ME Research (IiMER) was set up with the objectives of making a change in how ME is perceived and treated in the media, by health departments and by healthcare professionals. They aim to do this by identifying the three key areas to concentrate our efforts on - funding for biomedical research, education and lobbying. Invest in ME Research aims to collaborate and coordinate events and activities in these areas in order to provide the focus and funding to allow biomedical research to be carried out.

Invest in ME Research want to establish a national strategy of biomedical research into ME and establish a UK and European Centre of Excellence for biomedical research into ME. Please help make ME an illness which is properly understood and where adequate funding is provided for biomedical research into ME allowing treatments and cures to be found. 

So hopefully you can see why this is such an important cause. This research gives hope to the 250,000 people in the UK estimated to suffer from ME and they have been waiting a long time for this research to be done. The charity is run entirely by volunteers so 100% of the money raised will go into research.
