Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page which I hope may inspire you to spare a few pound through these tough times which we will all personally appreciate.
We Are all trying to Raise money for a Local Charity named 'Belfast Sailability' that provides access to sailing and boating to disadvantaged people throughout Northern Ireland and give them the opportunity to take up the sport and learn the skill of sailing.
On The Website there are many testimonials but there are two that were just lovely which were the stories of both The Murray Family and that of a young lad name Eoin
To summarise:
This charity helped helped the Murray family by helping one of their sons which was only 9 who is a wheelchair user use a boat 'Hansa 303' with the help of a volunteer crew and the other son that has ASD the sensory input he craves -- Having this chance to bound with the whole family is just amazing and only made possible by this amazing charity.
The other story regarding the young lad Eoin who had difficulties regarding concentration and socialising and tried various sports and the family had almost resigned ourselves to the fact Eoin’s disorder meant he hadn’t the capacity or desire to participate and benefit from team based sporting or social activities. He then tried going out sailing with this volunteer group where and somehow was engaged which the family could not explain why. However this charity provided foundations for Eoin to boost his confidence and pilot rubber boats where he finished 3rd which does just provide pride to the family and happiness and to see him engage with this group on a weekly where he now pushes other peoples wheelchairs arund and escorting his blind friends around is just class
The Challenge
On the 17th June, we are going to swim in the rough open water across Belfast lough which is a gateway to The Merciless Irish Sea -In theory with a straight line this is 3.02 Nautical miles however with the tide; this may end up being 3.75 Miles. This is similar or if not harder than running a marathon as an Ironman swim is Less than 2.5 Miles plus you can not breathe under water
Again any donation is appreciated during these tough times to help this support this unreal charity and would love your support on the day when we cross the finish line at Carrick Castle.
Thank you so much & Best Wishes
