Story
Beesty’s Bandits
Andrew was generous and totally giving, the life and soul of any party and losing him in August last year has left a huge gaping hole in our family. Andrew meant the world to us and at just 45 had so much more to give and live for. He was so positive, and nothing phased him, a complete rock; just the best person to be around and navigating this world without him is unbearable. In order to honour him and try and help others that may suffer from stomach cancer, we are running a 10K Wolf Run this April. Myself, my two brothers Robert and Ben; along with my two children Chaselea, Dominic and Husband Antoine in tow, we will unite as Beesty’s Bandits and take on the gruelling Woods, Obstacles, Lakes and Fields.
There are some cancers which have seen remarkable progress in survivability, but others that are just as deadly, the same as they were 40 years ago. Stomach Cancer has a survival rate of 20% and very little funding/research to try and combat this deadly disease. Guts UK is a charity that supports The Less Survivable Cancers Taskforce
www.lesssurvivablecancers.org.uk/; an initiative that wants to increase the survival rate of the 6 most prolific cancers (Stomach, Pancreas, Brain, Lung, Oesophageal and Liver) from an average of 16% to 28% by 2029! Together, these 6 cancers are responsible for nearly half of all deaths from common cancers and make up a quarter of cancer cases. They need more funding; awareness needs to be raised; coupled with the government evenly distributing funds - this will allow this Taskforce to try and make the changes to help many more people in the future.
Andrew/Beesty/Andy whatever you knew him as, always wanted to champion those in need and he would want to make a difference, now more than ever! We want to make a difference, we want to give others more of a chance than what Andrew had. He touched so many hearts with his charm and infectious smile, nothing was ever too much trouble for him to do, for anyone! An absolute legend; and this is our way of trying to channel our grief into something very worthwhile.
Thank you for taking the time to read our just giving page and hopefully you will support us by donating in Andrew’s memory.
