Story
I am fundraising to help Tommy's prevent parents from going
through baby loss, provide information to empower women through pregnancy and, to support those who have suffered pregnancy complications or loss. After our own experiences with babyloss through pregnancy, Tommy's was a great source of support to me and it still is.
Our first loss was in 2018. We found out at the 12 week scan that there was no heartbeat, it was devastating, and the procedure to follow this missed miscarriage was the worst experience I've ever been through. Tommy's was a place I looked for to read other people's stories who had been through the same or had similar experiences of baby loss. Tommy's do such amazing research into miscarriage and are continually helping parents to navigate through babyloss and more.
We had our beautiful rainbow baby in 2019 and she is just amazing. We are so grateful we have her and have been able to become parents. We would like to expand our family and luckily fell pregnant again in November 2020. Unfortunately, we received more bad news at the 12 week scan (scans for me are filled with complete anxiety and fear). There was a heartbeat but sadly the baby was really unwell, after being referred to fetal medicine, having another scan, and hearing what the baby's chances of survival were, we chose to end the pregnancy for medical reasons. This was not an easy decision but it was in the best interests of our unborn baby and for us as a family. We since found out the baby had turners syndrome.
Tommy's, along with 2 other charities are there to support families and raise awareness of TFMR (termination for medical reasons) which I think is so important. It is still a type of babyloss and every person who goes through it is losing a much wanted baby.
For these reasons I want to share my story, run and raise awareness of baby loss by fundraising for Tommy's. It's a challenge that I'm excited about taking part in and I'm running it for the two babies we have lost in pregnancy.
