Story
Hello, and thank you for getting as far as actually looking up my JustGiving page!
As the title says, on the 22nd of April I'm running the London Marathon to raise money for the Surrey Care Trust!!
On the 10th of January 2012 Dad passed away very suddenly after a heart attack. He was completely obsessed with sport and passed the obsession down to his children: it was Dad who took me on my first cross-country runs around the Surrey countryside as an overly keen 11 year old girl. Now, in tribute to an incredible man, I'm taking on a new running challenge to raise money for a charity close to our home.
The Surrey Care Trust is a fantastic charity that's reaching out to disadvantaged people and helping them to improve their life chances, often through education and training. Many people are completely oblivious to how much need there is just down the road from them, even today in the UK. From crisis grants to counselling services, educational programmes for struggling pupils, offender mentoring, childcare centres and training for the unemployed, the Surrey Care Trust offers support and opportunities. These are the day-to-day community projects we take for granted but wouldn't be able to do without.
On a personal level I wanted to raise money for a charity that gives individuals - especially young people - opportunity. The Surrey Care Trust don't physically save lives but they offer people lifelines. Education was incredibly important to Dad and he dedicated himself to giving his children the best possible opportunities in life - something everyone should have a right to.
But putting the violins aside, I really REALLY would appreciate any penny that you can spare. It's a brilliant charity, it's a very long way, and your money would make those 15 mile runs on a Sunday morning just that little bit easier.
THANK YOU!!
Becky
