Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
As many of you know, I had epilepsy as a child and grew out of it. Around the age of 16, I started experiences symptoms again and spent a good chunk of my university experience trying to control seizures with medication. After worsening seizures, black outs and new/different symptoms I was at my wits end and asked to be reassessed. When I was finally reassessed by a new doctor, I was diagnosed with Functional Neurological Disorder (FND).
A lot of people, and even doctors, have not heard of FND and therefore misdiagnose suffering patients with Epilepsy. Anti-epileptic meds worsen FND symptoms, and can lead to various traumatic And life affecting side affects.
Since being diagnosed with FND, I have had support and kindness that I never expected from FND Action; both from charity organisers and fellow FND sufferers who follow the charity’s journey. I would therefore love to raise awareness of the charity, and therefore of the condition.
