Story
Thanks for taking a look at my page!
I'm raising money for Ward 14 (E118) at James Cook Hospital in Middlesbrough (South Tees Hospital Trust). On Friday 25th December 2015, our wonderful friend, Chris Turner, lost his battle with cancer. He fought it till the very end; he was incredibly brave and refused to let it stop him from enjoying himself. Just a month before he passed away he was in Manchester with us, enjoying a night out for my birthday.
On 10th December 2015, Chris was rushed into hospital after having a major stroke due to a tumour on his brain. His family were able to stay with him, as ward 14 are lucky to have one family suite, with a sofa bed, shower and kitchen facilities. Chris, his family and his friends received incredible care and support from the staff, many of whom got to know Chris over the two weeks he was in hospital. His family described the support they received as "second to none". His friends were able to visit at any hour of the day and night, and many of us travelled from all over the country to be with him, and the staff made sure that this was possible for us, something which we are all so grateful for.
Every family should be able to receive this level of support, and this is why I'm raising money for the ward. They are looking for more ways to make sure their patients and families are comfortable and cared for through incredibly hard times. Even the small things can make a huge difference. So, from March 5th 2016, I'm taking part in a series of events to help raise as much money as possible for them. They are:
Saturday 5th March - Bogle 28 Mile Ramble
Sunday 22nd May - Great Manchester 10KM Run
Sunday 4th September - Manchester 100KM Cycle
Sunday 11th September - Manchester Women's 10KM Run
Sunday 16th October - Manchester Half Marathon
Saturday 5th November - Delamere Night Runner
So if you can donate, even a small amount, it will go towards an incredible good cause.
Thank you.
