Story
One year on and having finally recovered from the Stratford Triathlon, myself and many of Joe’s friends and family are back at it again taking part in the Shakespeare Half Marathon in April this year!
I just want to thank all those people that supported me last year in helping raise money in honour of one of my closest friends, Joe Harris, and hope that we can try to raise even more money this year!
For those of you who don’t know Joe was one of my closest friends throughout my time at university, however in November 2017, he tragically passed away whilst undertaking charity work in South Africa. He was truly one of a kind and one of the funniest, most caring and genuine guys you could meet. He never failed to have a smile on his face and is sorely missed by everyone who knew him. He was always up for a challenge be it playing lacrosse, representing Great Britain as a triathlete or even attempting to run back to campus at 3am after the bus back from the night out left without him. For this reason, we are attempting this next challenge of completing the Shakespeare Half Marathon!
For those who remember my lack of preparation last year for the triathlon, I want to say it will be different this year but with the date
less than 7 weeks away – I’m not sure it will be! However, it is all worth it to raise money and awareness for such a great charity, The Beer-Harris Memorial Trust, which was set up in honour of Joe and his uncle to support projects or research that will benefit people suffering from severe mental illness.
