Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I have been applying for 7 years to get into the London Marathon and was nearly ready to hang up my longer distance running shoes when I got offered a place.
Being able to run the London Marathon means a huge amount to me. Over the last 16 years I have experienced a lot relating to my health in terms of pain, fatigue, restless legs, tripping, numbness and loss of balance. I have had numerous medical treatments, scans and seen specialists with my fitness being very up and down.
I have been in and out of hospital for overnight stays as well as day appointments to try and manage the pain. Within the last 2.5 years I have been diagnosed with Fibromyalgia and Functional Neurological Disorder. I am still under the neurologist with further tests being taken this year.
I am now working with an incredible Functional Medicine Doctor in Dubai who is helping my gut health, cell function and vitamin and mineral balances which is helping.
Now onto the cause....The Fire Fighters Charity! Many of you know I have a keen passion in Mental and Emotional Health and this is seen through my personal and professional life.
Through my Father's career and passion within the Emergency Services, Health and Wellbeing across all the blue light services is so important.
This is why I am delighted to support Fire Fighters throughout the UK via the Fire Fighters Charity. Along with all other blue light services, Fire Fighters are exposed to and have experienced some harrowing situations which can cause lasting impact physically, mentally, emotionally and socially.
The Fire Fighters Charity offers specialist lifelong support for members of the UK fire services community, empowering individuals to achieve mental, physical and social wellbeing throughout their lives. They provide independent, personalised support to thousands of people each year, and they’re not all firefighters. They exist to support all fire and rescue service personnel, whatever their role in the service. They are also here for all those who have retired, as well as for spouses and dependants.
I would be highly grateful for any donations in supporting this wonderful cause and me running with my little legs throughout the streets of London on 2nd October 2022!
