Story
SSCB is a charity which is run 100% by volunteers, many of whom have experienced life in the unit. We started this page back in July 2021 where we took part in fundraising with the charity, by asking children and their families to host a Teddy Bears' Picnic and raise much needed funds for the organisation. We thought we would keep it up and running as a continuation of our gratitude!
This cause is particularly important to us where Bea spent the first 6 weeks of her life on the neonatal unit at the start of 2021. We are indebted to the incredible care that she (and we) received over those 43 long days and will be forever grateful to those that supported us in such an exceptionally hard start.
Delivered 8 weeks early, the wonderful team at RIE progressed our precious Bea from being ventilated in an incubator on a heated mattress at just 3lbs+ to coming home healthy and happy. Not being at home with your baby is devastatingly hard and despite our experience also being under COVID-19 restrictions SSCB created an atmosphere of trust and genuine care. The tireless efforts of the neonatal team continually save so many families - their professionalism, knowledge and love demonstrated in every smiling baby.
We are privileged to know many babies, parents and staff that have experienced the unit and we are all part of a unique family, that understand a particular heartbreak. We are honoured to be members of this incredibly strong and supportive community.
The work this charity does in supporting so many babies and their families really is invaluable and we are delighted to join them in raising funds. We would be thrilled to see you donate whatever pennies possible!
