Story
St. John’s Hospice is a small charitable organisation which provides free palliative care to patients with life limiting illnesses; our services cover North Lancashire, South Lakes and parts of North Yorkshire. It costs £3.3 million a year to run the Hospice with only 1/3 of this amount provided by government funding. The remaining £2.2 million must be raised through events, community donations, grants & legacies.
Our In-Patient ward is the longest established part of our service, where we care for patients with life limiting conditions who require constant care and attention.
We also provide a Day Hospice where patients can come for a day, relax, meet friends and talk to people going through the same experiences. We also offer complementary therapy and support from our team to all our patients.
Our Hospice at Home Team provide short term nursing care for patients in their final stages of illness, who are either living at home or in residential care. Their work in the community is vital to ensuring we can support and assist with caring and ensuring that patients and families receive much needed support.
