Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page! Let's start by telling you what this is all about.

Christine's story (as written by her Grandaughter Tia):

On the 4th of April 2017 you thought you had a really bad migraine we found out you had a tumor and our lives changed forever. Not only was it hard to except you were ill it was also hard to except the change in you over such a short period of time, you became disoriented and confused after a couple of hours and it was frightening.
On the 18th of April you went to Southampton for you biopsy and this became the most slowest week of our lives none of us could predict what was going to happen next.
On the 25th of April weeks ago today you came back from Southampton with a prognosis of 6-8 months and maybe the chance of longer if the new chemo tablets worked, my god we where all praying for this to work so we could have just that little bit longer with you.
on the 9th of May I held your hand for the last time, none of us thought it was going to happen this quick, none of us thought it was going to be true. No one thought we would have to say goodbye like this. It's almost living in a daydream. I come home and still expect you to be there, I guess there will always be that empty feeling on the inside that you will not be coming home to me and my grandad.
Christine Woosnam's funeral will be held Tuesday the 23rd May 2017 at the crematorium at 1:15pm for anyone who wishes to attend, followed by a toast for my nan to celebrate the life she lived at the union pub as it's where she grew up as her parents ran the pub.

I have had the honour of being best friends with Tia for many years now.. therefore, it only became natural that whatever fundraising we decided upon we would have to do together!

Shaving our hair to raise money seemed to spring surprise amongst our family and friends. It was a bold move and something we felt would attract a large audience and help us to shout about how amazing the Jersey Brain Tumour Charity really is!

As excellent as Eric, Chris's husband, is with a pair of shears we didn't quite fancy letting him loose on our hair.

Thankfully, the wonderful Andy from Fabriah and De Gruchy's department store came to our saviour. As Chris worked as a part of the De Gruchy family for 17 years (up until the day she fell ill in April) they kindly offered to support our cause in honour of Chris.

We will be shaving our hair off on De Gruchy's shop floor on 10th of June at 11:30am please feel free to pop down and watch!

All monies raised will be going towards the Jersey Brain Tumour Charity whose exceptional support will forever be remembered by Chris' whole family.
Please help us to thank them by donating and sharing with your friends and family.

Your share will help to create awareness of what this wonderful Charity does for our Island.
