Story

Team of staff, volunteers, friends and service users of Bawso is taking part in Cardiff Half Marathon. Many of them have never take part in marathon and yet very determined to raise awareness about the issue and to fundraise for Bawso's work to eradicate FGM.

FGM  is recognised as a severe form of violence against women and girls and a human rights violation which causes significant physical and mental health issues in survivors. The precise scale of FGM in the UK is unknown but around 60,000 girls aged 0-14 have been born in England and Wales to mothers who had undergone FGM.

Approximately 103,000 women aged 15-49 and approximately 24,000 women aged 50 and over who have migrated to England and Wales are living with the consequences.

Bawso FGM Health and Safeguarding project aims to develop and/or Strengthen community-based preventive work to protect the rights of children.  Since the start of the project we have worked with over 1300 families.

Your donations will help Bawso  provides specialist service  and continue work with people and communities affected by FGM and  could make a real difference to their lives.

Thank you for your kind donation. It is very much appreciated.
