Story

During the Xmas of 2009 we sadly lost two dear friends of my family, Sarah & Derek, to cancer. These losses have inspired me to run the marathon in memory of my friends, and to raise money for a very worthwhile charity, Macmillan Cancer Support.

Sarah Galley Stedman fought breast cancer bravely for a number of years whilst raising her lovely daughter Darcie. She was particularly close to my brother Ross and his two children Anna & Chloe. Sarah’s love of life, infectious positivity and interest in the wellbeing of others was both remarkable and humbling and drew praise not only from her friends and family but further afield as the link below testifies:

Derrick Connolly, a good friend of my parents, was a quiet man with a love of heavy metal who enjoyed many years working in the music industry. He was a long time Councillor in the local area, and was officially recognise by Bassetlaw Council for his services to the community. My family will miss his easy going affable nature and staunch reliability.

If you could sponsor no matter how little, Macmillan and I would be most appreciative

Thanks

Barry
