Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page in support of the South London Younger Parkinson’s Network and Parkinson's UK.
On Tuesday 23rd June 2015, I will be playing tennis in all 12 south London boroughs across a 12-hour period against my Sky Sports colleague Marcus Buckland to raise money for Parkinson's research. We will be playing on outdoor parks tennis courts and as well as fundraising hope to encourage more people of all ages to participate in the sport. The day will be long and gruelling, but it is something I am happy to do to help bring us closer to finding a cure for Parkinson’s.
I came to support SLYPN and Parkinson's UK after a friend of mine, Sarah Webb, was diagnosed with this awful condition while only in her 30s, just after the birth of her second child. Recognising the general lack of support available to young people affected by the disease, Sarah co-founded SLYPN and I was inspired by her determination to fight the disease, to help others in the same plight and to raise funds (already more than £150,000) to help find a cure. I want to continue to help in any way I can with that on-going battle.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Please dig deep and help us raise lots of money. If you are free at 7pm on Tuesday 23rd June, please come along to the Wimbledon Park tennis courts to watch our final session and celebrate with us.
Thanks,
Barry
