Story
Over 422,000 Ukrainian refugees evacuated through Moldova, and an estimated 100,000 remain there - the largest number per head of population in any country.
Despite being one of Europe’s poorest countries, the Moldovan community is opening the door in welcome to their neighbours.
Refugee Support Europe is a charity with extensive experience in supporting refugees with dignity, and they have established - working with Moldovan partners - a Refugee Dignity Centre in the capital, Chisinau.
I volunteered with Refugee Support Europe in their Chisinau centre this summer, to help provide aid to Ukrainian refugees, and in turn help and work with the local Moldovan community groups who have been so generous in supporting them.
But they still need our help, especially now as Russia’s energy terrorism follows Ukrainians into Moldova, now enduring power cuts. My fundraising page remains open - the moment you donate, the moment it reaches those in need. Thank you.
