Milton Keynes Memory Walk · 22 September 2019 ·
This is the most heartbreaking thing I have ever had to write, my dear & lovely mum Iris Clay suffers from advanced Dementia.
Over the past few years we as a family have had to watch & witness her suffer from being the most loving & kind Mum, Nan & Great Nan imaginable into a person who doesn’t know who she is or anybody around her including her close & immediate family, this was made shockingly real to me when nearly 2yrs ago she looked me straight in the eye & said ‘Who Are You’ which I can’t describe how this devastating question made me feel.
Due to this cruel disease taking grip her six great grandchildren have been robbed of the love & kindness she would have most definitely given them in abundance as she did to their parents my 3 grown up children.
Dementia is the UK’s biggest killer, by 2021 it is estimated that 1 million people will be living with the condition.
On Sunday 22nd September 2019 our family are taking part in the Alzheimer’s Memory Walk around Willen Lake in Milton Keynes, all the family will be taking turns to push mum in her wheelchair to raise funds for this great cause, all donations however large or small will make a huge difference to this brilliant charity The Alzheimer’s Society to continue its work in supporting families like ours & researching this terrible disease so hopefully one day it will be eradicated.
Any donation however small will be greatly received
Many Thanks
Barry
